Why the Equation is Multiplication, Not Addition

Most of us try to improve our lives by doing more.

It’s how we were all taught to participate in the world, starting when we were little kids.

If something isn’t working for us, the natural instinct is usually, “I guess I need to do more.”

But if you’re anything like me, you’ve tried that (a lot) and you’ve learned (the hard way) that life doesn’t usually get better by doing more. It just makes you exhausted….and frustrated.

The Genius Equation isn’t built on addition for a reason.

Genius x Application = Value.

Multiplication tells you the truth in a way addition never will. It’s the mirror you definitely don’t want to see your reflection in but desperately need.

Look, here’s what I’ve learned the hard way:

You can be naturally strong at something, but if you’re using that strength in the wrong way or in the wrong place, the outcome stays small.

You can stay busy all day long and still feel like you’re not making any real difference.

People assume the problem is their effort.

It’s usually not.

It’s what, where, and how their effort is directed.

I spent a lot of my life doing way too much in the wrong places and with the wrong people, trying to prove my value. I kept thinking if I just pushed a little harder, someone would finally see what I brought to the table. And I was conditioned that if I stopped trying, it meant that I was giving up…or worse, failing.

The turning point for me was realizing that I wasn’t “not enough.” I was just pouring myself into places that weren’t built to recognize me for who I was and how I could add the most value.

Once I stopped doing that and started paying attention to what made me, me, things changed for me. I put energy into people and environments that saw my value without me having to force it. My life didn’t get busier. In fact, it got easier in many ways. And, my value started to multiply. It felt strange at first because I was actually trying less. I wasn’t grinding myself into dust doing things I hated for people I didn’t even really like or respect. I was doing the things that felt natural, the things I was good at, the things that made sense for me to be doing.

I felt relief in a way I had never experienced before.

And I want that relief for you too.

I want you to know the feeling when you finally understand your unique way of contributing to the world and you get to put it somewhere it can actually matter - for you and those around you.

So, let’s take a look in mirror - at your own life - for a moment.

Where are you forcing something to fit?

Your friendships. Your work. Your commitments. Your identity.

What’s one thing you could remove or edit that would make things feel better for you?

Pick that thing.

Edit it today.

Because the moment you stop adding what you don’t need, you create space to multiply your value.
